Marco Stramba-Badiale, MD, PhD, Specialist in Cardiology, in Geriatrics and Gerontology, in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is the Director of the Department of Geriatrics and Cardiovascular Medicine, IRCCS Istituto Auxologico Italiano, Milan, Italy. Among his major areas of expertise are the effect of gender and sex on cardiovascular disease. In 2005 he organized and chaired the Policy Conference on Cardiovascular Diseases in Women of the European Society of Cardiology. In 2006 he participated in the initiative Women’s Health at Heart with the European Ministries of Health. In 2007 he contributed to the Task Force of the European Society of Cardiology and the International Menopause Society on the Management of Cardiovascular Risk in Perimenopausal Women. From 2006 to 2010 he has been a member of the Advisory Board of the European Heart Health Strategy (EuroHeart) Project of the European Society of Cardiology and the European Heart Network, funded by the European Union. In 2010 he presented the report of the EuroHeart project “Red Alert for Women’s Heart” at the European Parliament. In 2015, he participated as expert in the Technical consultation on the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Strategy on Women’s Health.
