Anca Toma Friedlaender


Director of Communications and International Policy for the Smoke-Free Partnership


Anca Toma Friedlaender has been Director of Communications and International Policy for the SmokeFree Partnership (SF P) since March 2012, supporting the organisation with its positioning and involvement in the European and global tobacco control policy debate, with a particular focus on the revision of the Tobacco Products Directive.

Previously, Anca was a consultant in public affairs and communications at Burson-Marsteller, where she provided strategic advice to companies, EU agencies and non-governmental organisations on EU health policy and advocacy, developed and coordinated the implementation of lobbying strategies on various health areas including tobacco control and smoking cessation. Before that, she was an advisor to the Romanian Chief Negotiator with the EU working on communications and media relations and coordinating the preparatory work for accession conferences. Anca holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Bucharest and a Master’s degree in European Politics and Administration from the College of Europe in Bruges.
