Bharati Shivalkar, MD, PhD, FESC
Director of Cardiac Imaging, Professor of Cardiology, Antwerp University Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, University of Antwerp, Belgium 
Bharati SHIVALKAR grew up in London, trained as a Cardiologist at The Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, and worked as postdoctoral imaging research faculty at the University of Virginia, USA. She has a vested interest in cardiovascular prevention, early diagnosis of subclinical disease and women’s health. She recently initiated the first Women’s Heart Health Clinic at Antwerp University Hospital in collaboration with the department of Gynaecology, and hopes to expand networking at European level and beyond to gain additional knowledge and expertise about heart disease in women. The aim is to promote gender medicine and empowerment of women for heart healthy living.
Currently she has a physician-scientist-educator profile and is active as board member of: The Belgian Society of Cardiology, The Belgian Working Group of Non-invasive Cardiac Imaging, The Heart Valve Society – Education Committee, The Cardiology Liga of Belgium, and was recently invited to be a board member by The European Institute of Women’s Health.
