Director of EuroHealthNet


Caroline Costongs is the director of EuroHealthNet, the European Partnership for Improving Health, Equity and Wellbeing. She has been working in Public Health policy and practice for over 25 years, especially in the field of health inequalities, EU health and social inclusion policies, health equity and regional development, healthy ageing, health promotion, sustainable development and capacity building for Health in All Policies (HiAP).

Caroline represents EuroHealthNet on the EU Expert Group on Health Inequalities and Social Determinants, is a board member of the Public Health Accreditation Agency, and is a member of the European Public Health Conference organising Committee.

Before EuroHealthNet, Caroline coordinated a national campaign on physical activity promotion for young people focusing on children from lower socio-economic backgrounds. She also conducted research on urban health-related policies and inter-sectoral cooperation at Liverpool John Moores University (UK), and worked at the national Capacity Building Institute of the Honduras Ministry of Education. Caroline has an MSc in Public Health from the University of Maastricht.
