UN Convention on rights of persons with disabilities Crowne Plaza, rue gineste 3, 1210 Brussels 29 April 2015.

Work Forum on the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN Convention) is meeting in Brussels.

The Forum brings together representatives of those responsible for implementing and monitoring the implementation of the UN Convention, both at EU and national level; these are Focal Points, Coordination Mechanisms and Monitoring Mechanisms. Civil society and disabled people’s organisations also actively participate in the Work Forum to help ensure the UN Convention is fully implemented.

The Work Forum will focus on:

  • Improving synergies between the EU and national level in implementation of UN Convention. The implementation of the UN Convention is a shared task: both the EU and the vast majority of its Member States are parties to the UN Convention and they implement it within their respective competences.
  • What could be done differently to implement the UN Convention in EU? The EU’s implementation will be under scrutiny this year by the UN Convention’s committee. Those who contributed to this examination through an alternative report will present  main findings and make concrete proposals for improvement.

Registration for the conference only by invitation.
