Integrated Care Event European Parliament 8 December 2015
Nursing and social care e-health services creating sustainable ecosystem
8th December, from 15.00 to 17.00, the knowledge4innovation summit at the European Parliament will highlight the potential of eHealth services in supporting the health and social ecosystem, as 24 National and EU stakeholders designed EU guidelines for the deployment of eHealth services in nursing and social care, putting flesh on the bones of the eHealth Action Plan 2012-2020.
The five EU guidelines on the deployment of eHealth services in nursing and social care relate to
- clinical practice (COPD),
- continuity of care and
- integrated care,
focusing on the design of advanced roles within a vibrant, motivated and highly qualified nursing and social workforce within the EU, dealing with the daily challenges of patients and citizens.
Evidence shows that integrated and continuity of care, supported by ‘fit for practice’ ICT solutions, enables the shift towards community-based services, building a sustainable health and social care ecosystem.
This implies the recognition that we need to be in the business of health and social care and not in the business of illness and primarily hospital-based care. The ENS4Care evidence highligῨts that through ῥHealth, it is possible to shift the traditional way of managing care towards an integrated system lowering down the workload of frontline, upscaling the coordination of person-centered care, enhancing patient empowerment, ensuring continuity between the hospital and community care sector and embracing multidiscipῬinary.
By developing further the ENS4Care sustainability, deploying the ENS4Care guidelines and scaling-up of evidence based innovations and good practice, the European Nursing Research Foundation (ENRF) continues focusing on implementation research providing the evidence that up-scaled innovative integrated care models can improve health outcomes and the well-being of the population.
